Sandwich - Sonsbeck Twinning Association
The association was formed in 1984 with the aim of forming friendships with the people of Sonsbeck in Germany.
We meet up with our friends annually; taking turns to visit the others town over a long weekend. Rather than staying in hotels, we stay with families so that we are able to get to know one another and learn about each another's culture. This also helps us learn some of the language. Some of our founder members still stay in contact with friends they made on their first visit 25 years ago.
During our annual get-togethers, we have a Bat and Trap match (Sonsbeck currently hold the trophy) and enjoy each other's company with an evening meal and entertainment. We might only be together for a weekend but we fit a lot in and enjoy it all.
We currently have 46 members and we meet throughout the year for social events such as quizzes, bat and trap practices, day trips, summer barbeque and our annual dinner.
Membership subscription is currently £5 per person or £10 per family (including any children under 18 years of age) and is payable in January each year.

We advertise our events on the town notice board and within shops around the town and on www.open-sandwich.co.uk. All members receive newsletters throughout the year detailing all the events.
This year we are celebrating 25 years of our twinning and we are visiting Sonsbeck from 5th - 8th June 2009. The cost is £95 per person. For more details please contact John or Shirley below.
